🏠 Step 1: Building Basics
ℹ️ How to Use This Calculator

Enter the total wall area you plan to insulate.

How to calculate:

  1. Measure wall height from foundation to roof
  2. Measure the length of each exterior wall around the perimeter
  3. Multiply height by length for each wall and add the values
  4. Subtract window and door areas

Example: House 10×8 m, height 2.7 m, windows and doors 15 m² → wall area: 2.7 × (10+10+8+8) - 15 = 82.2 m²

Enter desired indoor temperature and heating system efficiency or heat pump COP.

Efficiency examples for different heating systems:

  • Gas boiler: 0.8-0.92
  • Condensing gas boiler: 1.07-1.08
  • Electric heating: 0.95-0.99
  • Heat pump: COP per specifications (typically 2.5-4.5)
  • Solid fuel boiler: 0.7-0.85

Enter the cost of 1 kWh of heating energy.

How to calculate:

  • Central heating:Your tariff is set per 1 Gcal of energy. Note that 1 Gcal = 1163 kWh
  • Gas heating:Tariff is set per 1 m³ of gas. Note that 1 m³ of gas ≈ 9.65 kWh of heat.
  • Electric heating:Your electricity tariff.
  • Heat pump: Divide electricity tariff by COP
🧱 Step 2: Your Wall Layers
ℹ️ How to Use This Calculator

Enter name, thickness, and thermal conductivity coefficient for each wall layer.

Thermal conductivity examples:

Main materials:
  • Reinforced concrete: 1.69
  • Ceramic brick: 0.47-0.56
  • Silicate brick: 0.52-0.7
  • Hollow brick: 0.35-0.47
Other materials:
  • Aerated concrete: 0.23-0.29
  • Wood: 0.09-0.23
  • Plaster: 0.47-0.58
  • Existing insulation: 0.03-0.05
Material Thickness (m) Thermal Conductivity λ (W/m·K)
🌡️ Step 3: Heating Season
ℹ️ How to Use This Calculator

Enter heating season parameters for your region.

For each month enter:

  • Average outdoor temperature (°C): Average temperature for the month in your region.
  • Heating duration (days): Number of days in the month when heating operates.

Default data is set for central Ukraine. Adjust for your region using building climatology standards or regional weather data.

Important: For months without heating (typically May-September), set 0 days. For partial heating months, enter actual heating days.

Please note: when selecting a city, the heating season is automatically set to 180 days. Depending on your local climate, this value may need to be adjusted manually for more accurate results.
